Do you use independent contractors?

Chances are if they want you to pay the entertainer on the day of the performance that they use independent contractors. Independent contractors are not employees of the company and therefore do not have to assume many of the duties and responsibilities of an employee. Dreamstar Parties only uses its own employees

Do you run background checks on the performers you send to work with my children?

This is a no-brainer. You must have the appropriate background in order to work with children. All of our performers are background screened upon hire with Dreamstar Parties

Are you insured?

For your and their protection these companies should carry insurance and should be able to provide proof of it if requested. Dreamstar Parties is fully insured

Do you use custom made costumes?

Many of the popular princess gowns can be bought at common party supply stores for around $50-$70. These costumes are one size fits all and customarily made of low grade material- not custom fitted to each performer’s unique shape. Dreamstar Parties uses custom made gowns/costumes made from the finest materials.

What type of face paints do you use? and are they FDA approved for use on skin?

This is a very important question since face paints are cosmetics, it would be dangerous to use regular paint on skin, especially on a child’s face. Also please remember that a label of “non-toxic” does not necessarily mean it is safe for use on your child’s face as the chemicals and dyes can commonly cause breakouts and/or allergic reactions. The paints must be FDA approved for use on skin and water based paints are the best. It’s a good idea to avoid grease based paints as they can often cause breakouts and skin irritations to a child’s sensitive skin. Our signature character service: We have the most trained and qualified staff of performers in the business. We NEVER work with independent contractors; all of our performers are employees of Dreamstar Parties. Each performer graduates from a rigid training program before she is allowed to perform at a customer’s home. We only hire the best and all of our performers have extensive backgrounds in the performing arts and dealing with young children. Furthermore, we are a fully insured company and background screen each of our performers.
